Durston 12″ Guillotine Shear

The Durston 12″ Guillotine Shear represents a significant upgrade from previous models, offering enhanced flexibility and accuracy for jewellery and sheet metal cutting. Retaining the traditional cutting method of Durston's well-known 12″ shear, the new design includes a unique stainless steel table and cutting guide that allows wider sheet metal to pass through easily, especially when cutting at 45°, solving a common obstruction issue found in other guillotines.

Additional features include an upgraded backstop with smooth bearing guides that can be hand-tightened for quick locking and release, ensuring zero movement during repeated cuts. The shear incorporates a patent-pending square drive system with a rack and pinion mechanism, delivering maximum torque directly from the pull-down bar to the cutting blade, resulting in smoother cuts with less force compared to older round shaft drive mechanisms.

This guillotine shear can cut angles up to 55° in 5° increments and features an adjustable built-in mitre gauge and ruler. The hardened, tempered blade has four cutting edges, allowing for up to 20,000 cuts before needing to be turned or replaced. Its rigid, cast-iron body provides durability and stability, with mounting holes to secure it to any work surface. Tested on copper and other non-ferrous metals, it can cut full 12″ sheets up to 1mm thick and 6″ wide sheets up to 1.5mm thick.
