Compared to its predecessors and other market alternatives, this new 6″ model features a unique table and cutting guide design that allows users to feed wider sheet metal through the shear even at a 45° angle without obstruction from the tool’s body—a common limitation in other designs.

Additional improvements include an upgraded backstop equipped with smooth bearing guides that can be tightened by hand, enabling quick and secure locking with zero movement for precise and repeatable cuts. The shear's patent-pending square drive system utilizes a rack and pinion mechanism to ensure maximum torque is transmitted directly from the pull-down bar to the blade. This design eliminates the wear and movement problems common to older circular shaft systems, resulting in smoother cuts that require less effort.

Key features of the Durston 6″ Guillotine Shear include the ability to cut both large and small sheet metal pieces, adjustable mitre gauge and ruler for precise angle cuts up to 60° in 5° increments, a hardened and tempered blade with four cutting edges capable of up to 20,000 cuts, and a strong, rigid cast-iron body.
